How do you get your videos showing up in the YouTube Suggested Videos section on the right sidebar, so you can start getting a million more views fast?
Well, some time back there was this kid from Finland who did the unthinkable.
He hacked into Elon Musk’s Twitter account.
And posted a tweet that went something like this:
“Get a free Tesla if you contact Mr. So And So at this address and phone number”
Of course, he put a random dude’s info on there.
The poor guys phone started ringing non-stop for the next 18 hours.
People even came to his house to get the car by force. And the police had to come to escort them away.
Scarily insane stuff.
Anyway, how did this kid get into Musk’s account?
Simple.
He called the registrar for the Tesla Motors website.
And:
Presented himself as someone in charge…
… provided a relevant social security number he bought off the web for a couple of bucks for ID…
… and got the website transferred over to him!
With the website and associated email access in his grasp, he requested Musk’s Twitter password using the Forgotten Password feature.
BOOM!
Truth is, anything’s “hackable”.
If you understand the systems and algorithms behind it that is.
The more complex the system, the easier to hack. Because of all the variables.
It’s the same thing for the YouTube Suggested Videos section.
There are a ton of variables in the equation for which videos to show in the sidebar.
But let’s boil it down to a couple of key factors:
NUMBER 1. YouTube shows videos with similar titles and keywords.
Not always, but most of the time.
Want your video to show up next to popular videos? Do the leg work.
Start studying the titles, keywords, and descriptions used by popular videos in your niche.
NUMBER 2. Watch time.
YouTube keeps testing and tweaking the videos in their sidebar…
… to show users stuff that has the highest chances of getting clicked on and watched…
… so people stay on the site longer.
Something like what Donald Trump does on Twitter.
He does something that, in the business world, we call “Split Testing”.
Basically, he tries out a couple of tweets as experiments. Gauges their reactions.
And if the results are positive, he continues along the same lines.
If they’re negative? He makes some adjustments.
YouTube does the same thing.
They test out different videos.
And show the best option.
So you want YouTube to show your video?
Make sure you have great thumbnails. So people keep clicking. Study the thumbnails that top videos use.
And keep tweaking your videos to up the watch time.
NUMBER 3. Last but not least is something I’ve observed a lot.
YouTube likes showing videos with lots of views.
Probably because popular videos get watched more.
So, if you want YOUR VIDEO to show up in the sidebar… and get millions of extra views…
… start getting more views right now!
How do you do that, you ask?
The best way to start is… by going to
